The Painscreek Killings — is a first-person detective adventure game. The player as a young journalist Janet investigates the mysterious murder of Vivian Roberts, the ex-mayor’s wife, in a deserted town. Armed with articles about the incident, we have to write a sensation and unravel those secrets that should never have been made public. At first glance, it looks like a familiar walking simulator. But the core of the gameplay is a simulation of a real investigation that challenges your logic and deduction. The heroine uses a flashlight, a camera, keeps an investigation diary and uses a map. Locations carefully hide the details of mysterious murders and contain many clues and evidence to solve the crime. With the help of the evidence found, Janet needs to build a logical chain of events in order to successfully solve the case.
